Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo shared the experience of their 11-year-old son Lucho and six-year-old daughter Luna as they received the first dose of their COVID-19 vaccines on Monday, February 7.

“Finally! Our little ones got their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine today! The waiting time is very forgivable bilang drive thru [vaccination site siya]. The kids are not exposed to a lot of people. Plus, the effort that DOH and the team of doctors headed by Dr. Aye Nuguid and Dr. Romeo Nuguid put [in for this initiative]. With them are more than 50 nurses and doctors facilitating the vaccination,” Judy Ann wrote in an Instagram post that was later re-shared by her husband Ryan.

She also lauded the team for making the process more child-friendly, noting how they even gave out free balloons and enjoined Cocomelon and Frozen mascots to encourage the children throughout the vaccination process.

“Hats off to all the frontliners for doing this,” Judy Ann concluded.

After pushing back its initial rollout schedule due to “logistical challenges,” the Philippines has launched the vaccination for children aged 5 to 11 on Monday. The Philippines' Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has greenlighted only the Pfizer vaccine for emergency use on children within the said age range.

On Tuesday, February 8, the vaccination will be expanded to Central Luzon and Calabarzon as the government eyes to inoculate 15.5 million children aged 5 to 11 in the country.
